Olaf Z. de Baar'even life is recycling.'
De Baar had his first introduction to recycled art during his architectural studies. It felt good for him. He believes that essentially everything that you do has to do with recycling; even life itself. The Dutch have been aware of recycling for years. However these things are often not considered very important, even though in the long term they turn out to be.
Later De Baar changed the direction of his studies to his second passion: illustration. In this sphere the materials are not as often related to recycling but the themes portrayed can be.
At the symposium it appeared to him that everyone needed each other for the greater good of the project. He feels that you can learn much more from each other by doing things together than when you are alone in your studio. His first idea was to put statements like '2nd opinion' on used T-shirts. Later on he transformed this idea into an illustration together with his thoughts of the symposium and its effects.
To De Baar the theme is not exclusively related to reusable materials but more about depicting the underlying message. He adds 'An illustration delivers a message quickly to everyone.'
