MohamedAbou el Naga'the energy of the artist makes art.'
For Abou el Naga recycling is the cultural norm. In his country Egypt, there is no rubbish. Nothing is thrown away. Everything is re-used as much as possible.
Throughout his life and art Abou el Naga follows an Egyptian pattern. This is found throughout his work. His primary material papyrus illustrates this. From the inside it is soft, but the outside remains hard. This pattern is also to be seen in how a temple is built. Important cultural references for his work, besides Egypt are Mexico, Japan and China because of their papyrus culture. He is interested in how papyrus is used by them.
For him, cultural exchange is a necessity. He wants to hear and learn from another cultures, but he also wants to tell his own story from Egypt through his lectures and his art. He feels that a symposium gives you the opportunity to have new energy by exchanging ideas and knowledge.
He feels that art is not only made by the materials - the ideas and the energy of the artist make art. He adds: Art is a mixed dialogue between cultures and takes care of continuing the message to share with other people.'
