Recycle Art

Nao Ishizaka

'my art gives warmth.'

Ishizaka originally came to The Netherlands to study jazz, but ended up becoming a masters student in art at the famous Design Academy in Eindhoven.

The theme of recycling has inspired her. She has made four old books into a lamp-shade. From the leaves of the books she has made a pulp which together with wool she created into a lamp-shade. The pulp has been made without any fixative. An immediate feeling of warmth is given through the woollen material and the light. In all her work you will find references to her Japanese background.

Ishizaka feels that there are parallels between her music and her art. Singing is for her, a direct expression of feelings and art is the creative expression of them.
