Andrea Sampaolo'I work in a visceral way'
For Sampaolo, recycling is represented more in the ideology behind his work. The synthesis of the concept can be found here. He feels ideas can be recycled through communication in the here and now; the present recycles and incorporates the past. Art is assimilating, joining, communicating... Everything he does is a translation of an intuitive perception. Some of his influences include the American artist Jackson Pollock and the composer John Cage.
As a child he reused the colourful off-cuts of material in the studio of his mother, who worked as seamstress. Even now he integrates textiles from the same studio within his work. It is a way of linking back to his roots. Throughout the symposium he received inspiration from the Dutch clouds and wind: 'Water, clouds and wind always have a big impact on my sensibility.'
The Dutch elements have given him energy as well as inspiration and growth. He hopes he can convey this energy to the public.
